Annual ERC budget process
The Government Services Group (GSG) assists government departments and agencies to prepare for ICT-related concept briefs and business cases in the annual Expenditure Review Committee (ERC) budget process.
GSG participates in assessing all final ICT-related funding submissions and provides input to the development of recommendations to ERC.
Its review and advice focus on:
- impact on the Efficient Technology Services Program;
- impact on CenITex services;
- links to other major ICT initiatives in the Victorian Government;
- opportunities to re-use, standardise and consolidate ICT-related assets and services; and
- alignment with the strategic direction for ICT across government.

Why?
Through its input to the annual ERC budget process, GSG aims to ensure:
- all major ICT-related investments are well formulated, carefully considered and assessed in a timely fashion; and
- all participating stakeholders are provided with high-quality advice during the annual ERC budget process.
You are strongly encouraged to engage GSG early in the ERC budget process. By seeking advice early, departments and agencies will benefit from advice and reviews before the final funding submissions are lodged with ERC.
